Shah Rukh Khan will be playing a bootlegger in Rahul Dholakia's film Raees that goes on the floors next September. The period crime drama has Farhan Akhtar essay a police inspector.
Says Dholakia, "The film is set in the 1980s and loosely based on real-life incidents."
About whether Farhan's character is based on a real-life cop from Mumbai he says, "I have taken elements from here and there to add to his character from a cop who has passed away."
As the film is a period action crime drama, Dholakia has begun working on the look and styling. He informs, "There are a lot of people in mind, but I still haven't confirmed anyone. There is still a lot of time to finalise the crew."
Dholakia intends to shoot the entire film in Gujarat. He informs, "I plan to shoot the film extensively in old Ahmedabad and some parts of Saurashtra as I have spent a lot of time there."
When asked if Shah Rukh's character has grey shades, Dholakia jokingly said, "50 shades."
And why is the film titled Raees?
Dholakia informs, "Farhan is a large-hearted cop. In fact both the characters are dil ke Raees."u00a0
