Shot in the dark: This filmmaker slapped his assistant director

This not-so-experienced filmmaker has been grappling with the casting for an upcoming project and is evidently frustrated. But resorting to violence was taking things a bit too far.

Says a source, "The director's last venture featuring big Bollywood names was appreciated a lot, prompting an overnight change in behaviour. Currently working on a new project, for which the star cast is yet to be finalised, this person in question is busy with the pre-production work. However, during meetings with the crew, the director keeps shouting and abusing, and recently, even slapped an AD."

It is said that many of the unit members have borne the brunt of this high-handedness, but have not brought it to the production house's notice. However, his assistant director was in no mood to let the matter go.

"She discussed the entire episode with her friends, who suggested that she should have a word with the film's production head. When she raised the issue with the producers, she was plainly told that the director is a creative person and probably had no intentions to slap her, so they can't do anything about it. Finally, the assistant director had no option but to quit," adds the insider.
