What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters as compared to what lies within us- Ralph Waldo Emerson.

"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters as compared to what lies within us"- Ralph Waldo Emerson. These famous lines have inspired Malini Chib to lead a full life despite suffering from a life-long disability.

The brave-hearted lady has turned author with her first book, One Little Finger. The Women's Council of UK hosted a special book reading session at the House of Lords yesterday for her. CS spoke to her about this new experience, and her zest for life:u00a0

Jotting it down
I have always loved writing. I sketch snippets of my life periodically. I have led a privileged life, living in and out of London, as I have studied in the UK. People suggested that I pen down my thoughts, and I decided to take up the challenge. I have tried to recount the fun aspects of my life. The first impression about people with disabilities is pathos but I have tried to make this book a fun read. I don't know if I will write a book again, but I hope to do so. I have a plot buzzing through my head, I might just start work on it soon.

On a positive note
I tell myself how fortunate I am because not many can live the way I have and the way I do. I have learned to love and accept the fact that life is beautiful as it is. It is not always easy, but definitely beautiful. Besides writing, I love watching films, chatting and spending time with my friends. But the last film I liked was King's Speech. I am also into watching Bengali and French films and my all-time favourite is Amu. I love reading; Vikram Seth and Arundhati Roy are my favourites.
