Who: Sushmita Sen
What: Talking about bringing back the Miss Universe crown to India

The universe at her feet
Everything that has happened to me is surreal serendipity. I go to get admission in a college, someone sees me and I become Miss Universe; I come back from my vacations and Mahesh Bhatt sees me and I become an actor. Then out of the blue I get a call to own the Miss Universe franchise and here I am, an entrepreneur. I've never followed the plans that I made, but the ones that God made for me. This 17-year-old journey has been truly exciting, educational and inspirational. Now life has come full circle and it's my turn to give back to the nation. I'm bullish about bringing back the crown and the glory.

Winning streak
When I was 18 and representing my country, I was so nervous. But the girls today amaze me with their confidence and knowledge. More than anything, their large-heartedness and generosity is truly outstanding. They are ready to take on the responsibilities of representing the nation at such a young age without any qualms. All I can tell them is to bring out their very best, to be the winners they already are and most importantly, to get in touch with their inner being. After all, if you are a believer in God's plans for you, then all you have to do is to wait for the right time for things to happen.

Small wonder
My daughters mean the world to me and I try to do my best in raising them. It is the duty of every parent to impart social awareness to make their children responsible citizens of the country. Young minds are the assets and the future of India. My 11-year-old, Renee, is quite conscientious already. She's very particular about not littering and just the other day, she even asked me when she could vote!
