Though the actor has cited a busy schedule, the festival directorate are awaiting for a confirmation from the veteran actor.

Directed and written by debutant Ribhu Dasgupta, who was Anurag Kashyap's assistant in Gulal, Michael is a psychological thriller produced by Kashyap.

Says Ribhu, "Anurag and I are attending the festival, and we hope that Naseeruddin Shah can make it.

He has told us that he is busy with his film and theatre assignments. But the festival folk are looking forward to his visit."

Naseer essays the protagonist in Michael, a role that's inspired by the trials and tribulations of a tainted cop.

After his portrayal of a common man in A Wednesday, Michael has a script that allows him to showcase his histrionics.

Adds Ribhu, "We have completed the film's editing. We have not yet ascertained a release date. After we return from Toronto, we will decide.

The film shot entirely in Kolkata has Naseer wrongly convicted and dismissed from duty. It then moves to his relationship with his son.

Mahie Gill, Purab Bhandare and Sabyasachi Chakraborty also feature in the movie. The Toronto Film Festival is scheduled to be held from September 8 to 18.
