Vikramaditya Motwane's debut film Udaan will be first Hindi film to feature in the Un Certain Regard section
It's official. Vikramaditya Motwane's debut film Udaan has been selected to be screened in the Un Certain Regard Section of the festival. It is the first Hindi film to make the cut in the special section.
The last Indian film to make it to the Golden Palm Award category was Swaham (Malayali).
The director is, of course, delighted at the news of Udaan being selected. "I couldn't have imagined this happening." He hasn't made any travel plans because he is yet to receive the formal documents from the festival." The list was released online today.
Wider audience Vikram describes Udaan as a warm coming of age story he adds, "I am glad many more people will be able to see the film." The film, based on a father-son relationship stars Ronit Roy, Ram Kapoor, Rajat Barmecha and Ayan Boradia, and isu00a0 produced by Anurag Kashyap.
Past workMotwane has assisted Bhansali on Devdas and on Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and also co-wrote Dev D with Kashyap. Nikhil Advani was to originally produce Udaan but he backed out of the project and in stead produced Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai. Anurag Kashyap then stepped into his shoes.
