The actress, who raises daughter Samaira and son Kiaan with husband Sanjay Kapur, says she is in no rat race and wants to take up roles that interest her. "It was wonderful to return on the sets. Acting has always been a passion and today I have no pressure.
It is just for the love of it. I want to work at my own pace because my family and children are the top priority," Karisma said. The 37-year-old will be seen in Vikram Bhatt's 3D supernatural film 'Dangerous Ishq' which releases this Friday.
"It is a supernatural thriller, something that I have never done before. I was waiting to to do something different. I did not want my fans to see me in a similar role. I wanted to push the envelope further and this role offered me that. You will see the Karisma of 2012 in this film. A lot of research has gone into the film and my role," the actress said.
Karisma says that Bhatt and the producers were very understanding about her schedule. "The industry has really opened up. The producers were very accommodating. I feel the industry is becoming like West where actresses like Angelina Jolie and Halle Berry are top stars and mothers. As long as you know how to prioritise, things work out really well."
Despite being away, Karisma did not miss being a part of films thanks to younger sister Kareena. "Films is always a topic when we are together. We have grown up on them. I am very proud of her. She always had a mind of her own in selecting films. It was obvious that we would join films, it is in our blood."
Karisma felt nervous while facing the camera after a long time but it did not take her long to get involved with the story. "It was unusual and exciting. I was nervous. 3D is a bit different. It is a little different in emoting also. First two days were a little tricky but I got used to it."
She said her return to cinema was not a planned move and she wants to take things as they come. "I started as a struggler then became an actress of masses and then classes. That has been the case with me. I have always taken chances. I have no plan and want to take movies that touch my heart."
Starting her movie career with 'Prem Qaidi' in 1991, Karisma starred in hits like 'Raja Babu', 'Andaz Apna Apna', 'Saajan Chale Sasural', 'Raja Hindustani', 'Dil To Pagal Hai', 'Fiza' and 'Zubeidaa' before taking a break to get married and have a family.u00a0
