What's it about: Forget your bills, the recession blues, detach yourself from every worry the real world offers, and submerge yourself into a parallel universe of superheroes.
There are loads of subplots simmering underneath the visual mastery of Snyder in the film. Even though I haven't read the book the film is based on, there was no sense of void while watching it.
What's hot: Snyder has already proved his brilliance in CGI with 300. With Watchmen, he takes it to another level. Of the cast it is Jackie Earle Haley's Rorschach who steals the thunder from the others.
His care-a- damn attitude and earnest approach in delivering justice stands out even in the darkest canvas.
As we sink into this world of make-believe, Snyder takes us up, close and personal with every character in the film. The soundtrack is haunting and beautifully compliments the film.
What's not: Patience is a card you'd need to keep close to your heart while watching this movie. Don't expect do be hurried up to the special effects and action scenes.
There's a certain pace to the film that may frustrate a few. The climax seemed too sudden and rushed up though. It fails to draw the curtain upon what is an unending festival of mayhem and madness.
What to do: Visually stunning and extremely mature in content, Watchmen is for those who couldn't get enough of Sin City and 300.
