More than half of India's population looks back at school as an unnecessary part of growing up, where uniforms meant nothing but devilish discipline. Nightmarish mathematics and incorrigible chemistry lessons made it impossible for many of us to actually realise that school was also a time you could afford to be unapologetically silly.
As if straight out of a PE class, model Diandra Soares, with her braided tight, opened Rahul Reddy's show, carrying a school bag on her head, wearing a matt olive pinafore and adorable socks with bows. Textured and treated knits were utilised either as entire outfits grandma's comfy sweater was revised into a stylish shrug with pop colour buttons or sparingly used to create a tension between the tough and soft (jersey and silk) with pocket and window patterns over shirt dresses, pleated dresses, skirts and resort pants.
Tailored silhouettes were meticulously pinched, curled and pleated, and hand-done embroidery reminiscent of a little kid's doodling was used to add an original dimension. Collar and button details on skirts, tied-up sweater style, and extended bib details spared it from being just another pretty collection.
