Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh's 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani' gets new release date

Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh starrer 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani,' directed by Karan Johar has announced a new release date. The film that was earlier slated to release on April 28 will now hit theatres on July 28, 2023. 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani' marks the return of Karan Johar as director after 2016's 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.'

The film also stars Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi in pivotal roles. Filmmaker Karan Johar took to social media to announce the new date. He posted on Instagram: 'They say ‘sabr ka phal meetha hota hai', so to increase the mithaas of this incredibly special story - we're coming with a whole lot of love! Rocky aur Rani ke parivaar ho rahe hai taiyyaar, aur ab dekhiye yeh anokhi kahani of pyaar!'

The rom-com was initially scheduled to release on February 11 but was pushed to April 29 to avoid clashing with Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon's 'Shehzada.' Later, Mani Ratnam's directorial 'PS-2' was announced for an April 29 release and 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani,' has avoided a clash again.

Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani' is written by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan and Sumit Roy.

On November 12, 2022 Johar had announced on Instagram, 'My heart is filled with excitement and gratitude…#RockyAurRaniKiPremKahani releasing in cinemas near you on 28th April, 2023!' In the statement, the filmmaker said 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani' marks his return to his first home-cinemas, after a gap of seven years. "I had the absolute honour of working with not one, but many illustrious actors on the set of my seventh film," the director said.
