Amitabh Bachchan
Amitabh Bachchan's legion of fans are habituated to reading his blog daily as he shares it all on his page - be it anecdotes from the day's shoot or his cherished poems. However, on Saturday night, the megastar shared a brief health update as he bowed out of his journalling duties for the weekend. He wrote, "Medical condition... surgery... can't write." Soon, there was a steady stream of get-well wishes from innumerable fans. As the veteran actor had not provided more details, there was widespread speculation about his health. Last year, he was hospitalised after being diagnosed with the Coronavirus.
mid-day has learnt that the actor, 78, underwent an eye surgery on Saturday morning at the Vission Eye Centre in Juhu Scheme. The two-hour procedure was conducted by Dr Himanshu Mehta. A source reveals, "Bachchanji went to the ophthalmology centre at 10 am, accompanied by wife Jaya and daughter Shweta. He was wearing a white kurta pyjama with a black jacket. In a matter of two hours, he was done and left for Jalsa by noon." On his way out, post the surgery, he wore oversized black shades to protect his eyes. Bachchan has sought treatment for eye-related issues from Mehta on earlier occasions too.
On the work front, the senior actor has been shooting for Ajay Devgn's directorial venture, Mayday.
