Bhumi Pednekar calls herself a product of unconventional choices. Her upcoming release, Bhakshak - a thriller based on the true stories of child sexual abuse at shelter homes across the country - is another cinematic offering that is distanced from commercial movies. "I find a lot of solace in doing such films," she says.
Pednekar's love for fashion has become increasingly evident in the last few years; a passion that has invited mixed reactions from audiences who claim she has fallen prey to the industry's notorious demands placed on female actors.

"If you see the kind of films that I do, do you think I am servicing any kind of stereotype of a conventional actor? I am not. I realised the need to be my most authentic self. That's why, my film choices have also changed. I am not servicing any image. My love for fashion, glamour and beauty does not imply that I do not care about effecting change. I am going to keep fighting for my rights, and supporting any marginalised community or gender. This is not a result of pressure from the industry. I am lucky that I have never even been told to lose weight for any film," she signs off.
