She says, "As an actor, I have tried to lend my voice to important social topics for women, like how a girl has the right to be happy in her body type in Dum Laga Ke Haisha, the right for a woman to demand proper toilets within her home in Toilet : Ek Prem Katha, the need for society to treat women and gender equally in projects like Lust Stories, Badhaai Do that speaks about the relevant rights of the LGBTQIA+ community and empowers them."
She adds, "Now in TYFC, I'm trying to be vocal about a girl's right and the need for self-pleasure. All these are extremely relevant issues for girls in India and I'm glad I have been able to be a vehicle to channelise this subject to people across my country. Hopefully, we will have these conversations more openly and constructively."
'Thank You For Coming' revolves around five friends and their tryst with the concept of female sexual pleasure. Besides Bhumi, the film also stars Shehnaaz Gill, Kusha Kapila, Dolly Singh and Shibani Bedi. Actors Anil Kapoor and Karan Kundrra have a special appearance in the film.
On receiving an overwhelming response over her role, Bhumi said, "The fact that I have been compared to all-time acting greats like Carole Lombard and Goldie Hawn by the media for my performance in Thank You For Coming is a hugely gratifying validation that will forever be special for me. I can't believe that people are saying that I have delivered a performance of a lifetime. I'm still pinching myself reading all the love coming my way and I'm very happy about it."
