Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan
Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om completed 16 years this month. It marked Deepika Padukone's debut and also starred Shah Rukh Khan, Arjun Rampal, Kirron Kher and Shreyas Talpade in the lead. On Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa's podcast, director Farah revealed that Shah Rukh promised to go shirtless for Dard-E-Disco. In order to attain the perfect look for the song, he didn't consume water for 2 days.
Farah said in the interview, "I wanted a bare body shot of his in Main Hoon Na but he couldn't work on his body as he had a back injury and had to get surgery. So during Om Shanti Om, he said I promised you that the first time I remove my shirt (on camera), I'll do it for you. He didn't have water for two days because it causes bloating. In Dard-E-Disco, he couldn't even dance properly because he was cramping so much."
In an interview with Film Companion, Farah revealed, "I got pregnant towards the end of the shoot of Om Shanti Om and we still had to shoot Dard-E-Disco. So every time SRK took his shirt off I would throw up in a bucket that was kept on set! I had to assure him this was not a reaction to his body, which was looking fab!"
Javed Akhtar, who penned the lyrics of Dard-E-Disco, said in a previous interview on Cyrus Says that Farah approached him with the request to write a meaningless song. He revealed his reaction, "If you are asked to write âmeaningless,' it's a challenge. If you ask somebody to stand up here and speak for 2 minutes, there shouldn't be any sense, although many times it happens, but it does not happen on a conscious level. The moment you are aware that you have to speak gibberish, you start speaking sense. This was a situation where the hero in the film is in a wheelchair."

He further recalled, "The director of the film, Farah told me âJaved uncle I want a song in which any line does not have meaning because the whole situation is absurd.' I realised for the first time that to write gibberish is very difficult. I'm happy that it was fairly meaningless."
