Vaani Kapoor
After shooting for Raid 2 with Ajay Devgn and Mandala Murders, Vaani Kapoor is set to begin work on a coming-of-age dramedy about a girl and her family. Helmed by Navjot Gulati, the film, titled Badtameez Gill, is set in Bareilly and London. Aparshakti Khurana plays Vaani's brother, and Paresh Rawal essays the role of her father in the movie that goes on floors in Bareilly this week. Sharing that she was their first choice for the role, producers Nickky and Vicky Bhagnani said, "Vaani is perfect for the part in every way. She hasn't been seen in out-and-out comedies or family entertainers. She will showcase a totally different side to her acting in our film that has its heart in the right place. The role was written keeping someone like her in mind." Stating that they needed a gorgeous, confident girl, who could be a riot for her family and friends, the duo maintained that Vaani is this person in real life. They added, "When we met her, we knew we had found our lead! She will light up the screen with her presence, and hopefully we will entertain a lot of people with our film."
Telugu star Yash's next, Toxic, continues to make news. Geetu Mohandas's directorial venture, which features Kiara Advani as the leading lady, is currently in production. A few weeks ago, reports were rife that Kareena Kapoor Khan was being offered a role as the hero's sister in the gangster saga. However, the actor, who is keen to collaborate with Yash, was unable to come on board. Reason: She doesn't have matching dates with Yash. The makers of Toxic have now approached Nayanthara for the role. Apparently, they are keen to cast an actor with a pan-India presence. The Jawan actor has expressed her interest and the logistics are being worked out. "Nayanthara is impressed with the way Geetu has created this strong character, which suits her image as an actor. Hopefully, in another couple of weeks, things will be finalised," said a source.
After three releases last year, Shah Rukh Khan is teaming up with daughter Suhana Khan for her big-screen debut this year. Tentatively titled King, the action thriller, helmed by Sujoy Ghosh, sees SRK play an underworld don who mentors Suhana's character in her mission. He recently shared that after continuously working on Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki (2023), he thought of taking it easy for a while to focus on his cricket team, the Kolkata Knight Riders. "I just felt ki main thoda rest kar sakta hoon. Teen filmein kar chuka hoon, it took a lot of physical work also. So, I said maybe I'd take some time off. I told the whole team that I would come for their matches," said the actor in an interview, adding, "Fortunately, my next shoot will be in July-August. So, I am absolutely free."
