Atlee's much-anticipated Jawan is now running in theatres. Headlined by Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi and others, it is being hailed as one of the finest mass entertainers. There were rumours that Vijay could feature in a cameo in the actioner. However, in an interview with DTNext, director Atlee clarified that Thalapathy has no role to play in Jawan.
During the interview, Atlee confirmed his cameo in Jawan. He said, "Vijay sir is not playing a cameo in the film. If that were the case, I would have announced it myself. Perhaps, I am planning a movie that will feature both of these actors in lead roles. In fact, I played a cameo in Jawan." In fact, Sanjay Dutt will be seen in a special appearance in Jawan.
Rumours of Vijay's cameo sparked off after Shah Rukh visited him on the sets of Varisu with Atlee in October 2022. Prior to that, the superstars were at the director's birthday bash that year. Atlee and Vijay have given blockbusters like Raja Rani, Theri, Bigil and Mersal.
The advance bookings for Thursday closed at midnight. Shattering records, Shah Rukh's film is about to take a grand opening. Janmashtami and Dahi Handi holiday has a key role to play. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Jawan's advance booking closed at midnight with 557,000 tickets booked for Thursday.

Jawan is a Red Chillies Entertainment presentation directed by Atlee, produced by Gauri Khan, and co-produced by Gaurav Verma. The film will be released worldwide in theatres on September 7, 2023, in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages. It also stars Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Ridhi Dogra, Sunil Grover, Girija Oak Godbole and others in pivotal roles. Deepika Padukone features in the film in a cameo role.
Jawan is Atlee's first Hindi directorial. He is known for his work in the South film industry. It is also his first film with Shah Rukh. With the film, Nayanthara enters Bollywood. Jawan got early morning shows across the country. Some theatres opened as early as 2 a.m. due to excessive demand. Multiplexes in Mumbai started around 6 a.m.
