From playing a blind man in âSparsh' to the father of an illegitimate child in 'Masoom', he did justice to all the characters played by him on-screen. He has been honoured with the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan awards for his remarkable work in the film industry.
Naseeruddin acted in movies such as âHum Paanch', âNishant', âAakrosh', âSparsh', âMirch Masala', âAlbert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyon Ata Hai', âBhavni Bhavai', âJunoon', âMandi', âArdh Satya', âKatha', âJaane Bhi Do Yaaro', âIjaazat', âJalwa', âGhulami', âMohra',' Monsoon Wedding' among others. Every time, he took up any role, be it commercial or unconventional, he proved his acting prowess.
Speaking at an event in Mumbai, he expressed his admiration for Korean and Thai cinema and compared it to movies on the Indian front. He said, "Korean films are better than Bollywood films... We keep claiming that the whole world is watching Bollywood films. First of all, I hate the word 'Bollywood. Just like Indian food is gaining fame worldwide due to its inherent qualities, Bollywood films are said to be gaining fame. However, I guarantee that this bubble will burst one day because these films lack substance and are made with motives everyone is aware of."
