Shriya Pilgaonkar joined mid-day.com's 'Monsoon special' and shared her favourites for the season.
How did you kick off the season?
I was filming 'Broken News 2' so for part of my monsoon I had been working and the other half I was travelling. I went to Maldives, that was beautiful in the rains and we experienced sunshine at the same time. It was lovely!
What food or drink do you indulge in during the monsoon?
If I'm at home and it's raining outside I would definitely be tempted to eat something fried and yummy like pakoras and vada pav, hot coffee or chai. Comfort food!

What is your favourite place to visit in Mumbai during the monsoon?
I visited Sanjay Gandhi National Park with friends a couple of years ago. There are so many paths for treks, the Kanheri Caves are there, it's green and beautiful. I also like Mulshi that's a little outside Mumbai, towards Pune. I love the monsoon and travelling during this season because everything is lush green.
Favourite rain song on your playlist?
'Jhoom' by Abida Parveen and Naseebo Lal, the Coke studio version and it's beautiful.
Favourite monsoon memory in Mumbai...
I studied at St Xavier's College and would travel by train. Travelling by trains used to be an expedition because it was crowded and chaotic but it was also fun and an adventure in it's own way. I enjoy walking around South Mumbai during the rains, every nook and corner looks like a picture.
Holiday plans...
Every place becomes more beautiful during the rains. Sometimes I climb up the mountains but it's not advisable during heavy rains. I know a lot of people love sunny beaches but I love a cloudy beach, when it's not too hot and you have a bit of rain. Goa during the monsoons is beautiful and it's my favourite time of the year.
Choice of outfits for the season...
I avoid wearing whites. I wear cute mirchi green gumboots, along with carrying my purple umbrella.
What do you dislike about the monsoon?
The traffic and roads in Mumbai go for a toss. Enjoying the monsoons comes from a place of privelege because it can be a hassle for a lot of people.
Movies to binge watch while stuck at home...
I like to watch a good murder mystery or rom-com like 'The Holiday.' Sometimes I like to grab a coffee, book and curl up in bed, listening to the sound of rain. Other times I go on my terrace, get wet and enjoy the rain. The rain makes things much more charming and romantic.
