Adarsh Gourav
Colloquially referred to as Malliwood, the Malegaon film industry is touted to be one that makes films on a limited budget, but with immense passion. Fittingly then, when Adarsh Gourav was approached to be part of a movie that takes inspiration from this industry, the actor was intrigued.
"When director Reema [Kagti] told me about Malegaon, I knew I was going to say yes to it. I have heard about the Malegaon industry before and it is interesting to know how they make and finance movies. It is one of the most underrated film industries that churns out fun movies, and sees a 100 per cent return [of investment]," he says, further adding that the industry deserves to receive its due credit.
He doesn't deny that the opportunity to have a Reema Kagti-film on his resume is one that he wasn't willing to let slip. "I feel lucky that I got to work with her. She is energetic, witty and fearless, and has a gift. She can write and present characters that come from all walks of life. The people she writes about are confident but vulnerable, and full of flaws. Her desire to find the imperfection in each character makes her special. This film is about a bunch of misfits who admire the movies, and decide to make them in their own way." Meanwhile, Gourav dons a look from the '80s for Guns and Gulaabs, an upcoming comic crime thriller created by Raj and DK. He also has Kho Gaye Hum Kahan in his kitty.
