It's been nearly two decades since the last installment of the Munnabhai franchise was released. For years, the team behind the film namely director Rajkumar Hirani, actors Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Boman Irani have been asked about the third part of the film. While there has been no definite answer from the team, every now and then reports of the team uniting for the third part surface.
Now, once again Sanjay Dutt who plays the titular role of Munnabhai in the film, has dropped a hint regarding the future film. While sharing the trailer of writer-producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra's next film '12th Fail', Dutt mentioned the Munnabhai franchise.
Sharing the poster of the film, he tweeted on X, "Film looking great sirji, praying it's a winner, all the best, now waiting for Munna bhai."

The trailer features Vikrant Massey in the lead and has glimpses of the protagonist's journey from a small village in Chambal to the bustling nerve-centre of UPSC preparation in Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar. Initial reactions suggest that viewers have been impressed by Massey's strong performance as well as his physical transformation. The ensemble cast is also very interesting and punchy dialogues are the highlights of the trailer. Set to the tune of a rousing anthem #Restart, the film is expected to be a roller-coaster of emotions.
Meanwhile, talking about '12th Fail,' the film that stars Vikrant Massey and is directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The trailer of the film was released earlier today.
12th Fail, based on a real story, draws from the gritty struggles of millions of students who attempt the UPSC entrance exam. But at the same time, it goes beyond that one exam and encourages people to not lose heart in the face of failures, and to keep fighting.
Talking about the film, Vidhu Vinod Chopra said, "In today's times, I wanted to tell a story of hope, a story of never giving up. 12th Fail is all that and more.
