Last week, Rani Mukerji headed out of the country to begin shooting for her next, Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway. While many assumed that the actor was headed to the Nordic country, given that the film is set there, mid-day has learnt that director Ashima Chibber led the cast and crew to Estonia. "Norway was producer Nikkhil Advani and the director's original choice. They wanted to be as true to the source material as possible. But getting visas for the team was proving to be a cumbersome task in the current circumstances. The makers did not want to wait too long as it's a prep-heavy film. So, they decided to shoot in Estonia in a bio-bubble after the necessary permissions were procured by Emmay Entertainment and Zee Studios," reveals a source.
The drama is based on the controversial 2011 episode where an Indian couple's children were taken away by the Norway welfare services after the parents were deemed unfit to take care of them. Mukerji is slated to kick off the 45-day start-to-finish schedule this week and hopes to wrap it up by early October.
