Pankaj Udhas, the melodious voice behind the iconic song âChitthi Aayee Hai' breathed his last on Monday after prolonged illness. He was 72. In an exclusive interaction with mid-day.com, Kavita shared, "Pankaj Udhasji was the sweetest and the nicest person in the music industry. One of the finest singers, his song âChitthi Aayee Hai', makes every Indian emotional. He had a very beautiful voice. I have known him from my St Xaviers Sangeet Mandal days. I will miss his smiling face and courteous ways. Success didn't change him, especially when he was a superstar in the ghazal field, and he met all his old friends the same way."
Pankaj's daughter Nayaab shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram. The statement read, "With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas on 26th February 2024 due to a prolonged illness."
