Pooja Bhatt, akin to father Mahesh Bhatt, has been opinionated about the issues in the Hindi film industry as well as the country. In one of her recent tweets, she was talking about the issue of rape. She wrote- "Rape itself is a political act. It is not merely about gender violence."
When a Twitter user, who appears to be a fan of Shah Rukh Khan, asked her to keep her opinions to herself, she gave a strong reply in Hindi. She stated- "Are you trying to control me? Are you a SRK fan? Learn something from him. He doesn't dismiss the opinions of women. Or change your DP."

Bhatt made her acting debut with Mahesh Bhatt's âDaddy' and went on to act further in titles like âJaanam', âDil Hai Ke Manta Nahin', âZakhm', âJunoon', âSadak', and âChahat' that had Khan opposite her in the lead. She turned towards producing and directing and made films like âJism', âJism 2', âHoliday', âDhokha'.
Bhatt also co-produced "Dushman" back in 1998. Pooja recalls back then she would have found it tough to release the film unless she had a male star to be a part of the cast. The film starring Kajol in a double role also had Sanjay Dutt in a pivotal role.
"Tragically when I had Kajol who did 'Dushman', I couldn't sell the film until I had a male star of a certain calibre. A lot of male actor didn't want to do it because it was a female-oriented film and she pulls the trigger at the end. Then, Sanjay Dutt came on board because of my personal equation with him. He even accepted a very reasonable amount of money for it," she told IANS.
