Maddy showers praise on Mission Raniganj
Akshay Kumar, the ultimate âKhiladi' of Bollywood, is known to do more films in a year than one can comprehend. One of those films happened to be âMission Raniganj'. Mission Raniganj is an addition to his list of real-life-inspired films and biopics. It is based on a coal mine incident that took place in 1975. It also stars Parineeti Chopra. Mission Raniganj, directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, is currently running in theatres globally.
The movie, unfortunately, did not pan out according to Akshay Kumar's expectations. According to trade reports, the movie bombed on the first day itself. But what does that mean for the movie?
Over the years, films that aren't exactly appreciated during their time at the box office usually gain the level of adulation they deserve a few years later. Tamasha, the movie that failed to drum up much business at the box office, is now considered a âclassic'. Dil Chahta Hai, another classic movie that reportedly bombed at the box office, is now considered a âcult classic'. There are many such movies, like Jaane bhi do yaaro, Andaaz apna apna, and many more.
Is Mission Raniganj one of those movies? Akshay Kumar is certainly going out of his way to defend his work, even calling this movie one of his âbest' and it seems R. Madhavan agrees. On October 13th, Maddy took to âX' to shower praise on the movie. He wrote: "à ¤Âà ¤² theater à ¤®à ¥Âà ¤ à ¤Âà ¤¾à ¤Âà ¤° à ¤¯à ¤¹ picture à ¤¦à ¥Âà ¤Âà ¥ à ¥¤à ¤Âà ¥Âà ¤¯à ¤¾ kamaal à ¤Âà ¥ picture à ¤°à ¤¹à ¤¾ à ¤¹à ¥ à ¤¯à ¤¾à ¤°à ¥¤ à ¤¹à ¤®à ¤¾à ¤°à ¥ desh à ¤®à ¥Âà ¤ à ¤Âà ¥Âà ¤¸à ¥ à ¤Âà ¥Âà ¤¸à ¥ hero à ¤¹à ¥ à ¤Âà ¤¿à ¤¸à ¤Âà ¥ bare à ¤®à ¥Âà ¤ à ¤¹à ¤® à ¤¨à ¤¹à ¥Âà ¤ à ¤Âà ¤¾à ¤¨à ¤¤à ¥ à ¤¹à ¥Âà ¤Âà ¥¤ à ¤Âà ¥Âà ¤¯à ¤¾ à ¤Âà ¤° à ¤°à ¤¹à ¥ à ¤¹à ¥ à ¤¯à ¤¾à ¤°à ¥Âà ¤Â? à ¤¯à ¥ à ¤®à ¥Âà ¤Âà ¤¼à ¤¾ à ¤«à ¤¿à ¤° à ¤¨à ¤¹à ¥Âà ¤ à ¤®à ¤¿à ¤²à ¥Âà ¤Âà ¤¾ à ¥¤ à ¤Âà ¤²à ¥Âà ¤¦ à ¤¹à ¥ à ¤Âà ¤¾à ¤Âà ¤ à ¤Âà ¤° à ¤¦à ¥Âà ¤Âà ¤¿à ¤ à ¤¯à ¥ film à ¤¥à ¤¿à ¤Âà ¤Âà ¤°à ¥Âà ¤ à ¤®à ¥Âà ¤ à ¥¤ à ¤«à ¤¿à ¤° à ¤¬à ¤¾à ¤¦ à ¤®à ¥Âà ¤ à ¤¨ à ¤¬à ¥Âà ¤²à ¥Âà ¤Âà ¤Âà ¤¿ à ¤¨à ¤¹à ¥Âà ¤ à ¤¬à ¥Âà ¤²à ¤¾"
In response, Akshay Kumar wrote, "Thank you so much à ¤«à ¤¼à ¤¿à ¤²à ¥Âà ¤® à ¤Âà ¥ à ¤ªà ¥Âà ¤°à ¤¶à ¤Âà ¤¸à ¤¾ à ¤Âà ¤° à ¤Âà ¤¤à ¤¨à ¥ à ¤ªà ¥Âà ¤¯à ¤¾à ¤° à ¤Âà ¥ à ¤²à ¤¿à ¤ à ¤§à ¤¨à ¥Âà ¤¯à ¤µà ¤¾à ¤¦ (folded hand emoji)"
Amid Mission Raniganj's theatrical run, the film has been submitted to the Oscars. The makers sent it to the global platform independently. The Academy permits any country to send non-English films to the Oscars in two ways. The first way is the official entry which is selected by a body assigned by the Academy. In India, it is the Film Federation of India. The other way is an independent entry, which requires fulfilling certain theatrical release conditions in the US. India's official entry for the year is Tovino Thomas' survival drama, 2018, based on the Kerala floods.
