The two National Awards for Jersey (2019) has made Shahid Kapoor ecstatic as well as stressed. The Nani-starrer was declared the Best Telugu Film, and also bagged the Best Editing gong for Naveen Nooli. Kapoor, who features in the Hindi remake, is now feeling the pressure to match up to audience expectations. Gowtam Tinnanuri, who helmed the original, wields the directorial baton for the Bollywood outing as well.
Shahid shared on Instagram handle and shared a congratulatory post for the entire team of 'Jersey' along with the movie's poster, for winning the honours at the 67th National Film Awards. He wrote, "Huge congratulations to the entire team. Thanks for the extra pressure."
The film, also starring Sasha's father, Pankaj Kapur, and Mrunal Thakur, chronicles the story of a talented but failed cricketer who decides to return to the field. The sports drama releases during Diwali on November 5. It is clashing at the box office with Chandraprakash Dwivedi's historical, Prithviraj, starring Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chhillar. In the movie's Hindi remake Shahid will be seen essaying the role of a cricket player. He had recently wrapped up shooting for the film.
Apart from Jersey, Shahid is set to star in filmmakers Raj and DK's upcoming OTT project which will also feature actor Raashi Khanna.
