Sunny Leone talks about briefly dating comedian Russell Peters
Karenjit Kaur - The Untold Story of Sunny Leone is a 2018 show that was based on the actress' life, tracing her relationship with her family and her showbiz career. The show revealed many personal details about the actress, among which was about her relationship with comedian Russell Peters, who, she insists, dated very briefly.
Peters later turned Sunny into a character in a stand-up comedy routine. Talking about it during Mid-day's Sit With Hitlist series, Sunny told Mayank Shekhar, "Yeah you have to see it. I don't know if he does it now. But I am not upset, he can say whatever he wants, it's totally fine. If it makes people laugh, it doesn't matter. But yeah, he did and it was really funny."
How long were they dating? "For like a hot second only. It wasn't for very long. It was a mistake. I genuinely believe that him and I were such good friends and we had so much fun together. Everywhere that I would travel in the US, there were a lot of places he was at because he was doing a show and we would just meet up and have fun, drink and be really silly and really funny. And all of a sudden we messed it up by going out on a date," she elaborated.
"I do really wish that we were still friends. He went this way and I went that way, which is totally fine. But if I ever did see him again, I will be so happy to see him even if he did talk sh't in his stand-up comedy, but I don't care, its okay," she said.
In the show Karenjit Kaur, it is shown that Sunny's husband Daniel hits Peters for making fun of her. Did that really happen in real life, we asked. Sunny explained, "No, I think that was sensational. My family part is the truth though. But when I dated Russel for this really short amount of time, it was around the same time that I met Daniel. So, then you know it would be really weird if like I was still friends with Russel, but I was just dating him and I didn't continue to be with him. That was a weird mixing of weirdness. So, I had to drop the friendship. Sad about it."
