Salman Khan in Tiger 3
Salman Khan's films are nothing less than a festival for his fans who go the extra mile to make his releases successful at the box office. The situation wasn't different on Sunday when Tiger 3 hit the silver screens. Despite releasing on the day of Laxmi Puja, the spy thriller got an unprecedented response from the audience.
Due to a huge demand among fans to watch Tiger 3, several multiplexes opened their gates as early as 6 am. As a result, the film had a fantastic opening. The first day of Tiger 3's release looked positive. In India, the Hindi version of the spy thriller earned Rs. 43.00 crores whereas the Tamil and Telugu dub collectively garnered Rs. 1.50 crores. The day 1 total of Tiger 3 is Rs. 44.50 crores.
With this, Tiger 3 has become the highest-grossing Diwali opening in the history of Hindi cinema. Apart from that, the film gave Salman and the Tiger franchise the biggest opening. The spy thriller broke the notion that films releasing on Laxmi Puja don't perform well.
Tiger 3 has received a mixed response from netizens. While some are praising Salman for his swag, performance and action, there is a section of people who found it to be the weakest film in the franchise. In his review for Mid-Day, Mayank Shekhar wrote, "What you're left with is a non-stop series of stunts and sceneries, over a totally joyless, humourless starship enterprise. To be fair, the fireworks are first-rate. You can tell the sort of effort that's gone behind pulling off set-pieces over a multi-city tour, traversing Russia, Turkey, Austria, and some place or the other passing off as Pakistan."
Tiger 3 stars Salman along with Katrina Kaif, Emraan Hashmi, Revathy, Simran and Ridhi Dogra. Directed by Maneesh Sharma, the film revolves around Tiger (Salman) and Zoya (Katrina) who started their journey back in 2012. They are married and have a son named Junior (Sartaaj). After tackling obstacles in the past, Tiger and Zoya have to reunite to protect the country against Aatish Rehman's (Emraan) sinister mission. This time, threat comes home as the battle gets 'personal'.
