Taapsee Pannu
Taapsee Pannu has an uncommon name. However, did you know she uses a different spelling for screen from the one on her passport? The actress has an interesting story behind the evolution of her name coming to be spelled as Taapsee Pannu. In an old interview with Mid-Day, the actress said that her name is spelt 'Tapasee' on all her legal documents, including her passport.
Taapsee feels that the spelling of her name in itself is a trivia in her life. Talking about the history behind her name and its spelling, Taapsee had shared, "By the time I was old enough to say, 'Dad, please don't do this to me,' it was too late. T-A-P-S-I, for him, in numerology, wasn't good enough. It needed to have two Es, and an extra A, for some weird reason. The logic he gave me was that if we write Tapsee, it will be Tap-si and Tapasee in his head sounded more like Taapsee".
Taapsee added that teachers would have a lot of difficulty in pronouncing her name. "During roll call in school, the teacher would stop at roll number 47, and go, 'Taa Taa...' Being used to it, I'd just say, 'Taapsee Pannu, present ma'am!' I was not fine with correcting every Indian out there. That it is Tapsi, not Tapa-see. For screen, I just shifted (my dad's) two As, to make it Taapsee!" she said.
Taapsee, worked extensively in the south before she made her Hindi film debut with the 2013 film 'Chashme Baddoor'. She will next be seen in the Rajkumar Hirani directorial 'Dunki' in which she will share the screen with the Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who has 'Jawan' on the horizon. This will be the first time that she will be sharing screen with the superstar.
