Werewolf on the prowl, again

Director Amar Kaushik is busy with the post-production of Stree 2, the sequel to Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor's 2018 horror comedy. Meanwhile, another sequel is vying for his attention. Sources tell us that as soon as Stree 2 reaches the finish line, the filmmaker will focus on the script of Bhediya 2, which will see Varun Dhawan reprise his role of a shape-shifting werewolf.

It turns out Niren Bhatt, who penned the script of Bhediya (2022), has begun writing the second instalment on the basis of the plot that Kaushik and he have discussed. "Bhediya was always envisioned as a franchise. It's a part of producer Dinesh Vijan's horror comedy universe. After Stree 2 is delivered to the studio by March, Amar and Niren will sit on the script of Bhediya 2 and have the final draft ready by mid-2024," says a source. The film is expected to roll later this year. The source adds, "Varun is shooting for Atlee's production, after which he has three more projects. He will then turn his attention to Bhediya 2."
