Helmed by Kabir Khan, 'Chandu Champion' is based on the life of India's first Paralympic gold medalist, Murlikant Petkar, who won the 50 metres freestyle swimming competition at the 1972 Summer Paralympics in Heidelberg, Germany. During the 1965 India-Pakistan war, Petkar, a soldier of the craftsman rank in the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME) in the Indian Army, suffered debilitating injuries that rendered him paraplegic. He took to swimming as recommended by the doctor, and eventually represented India internationally.
For the film, Kartik has also shot for an 8-minute-long war scene. Speaking about the scene, the actor said, "This 8 minutes long single-shot war scene turned out to be the most challenging, spectacular and yes, difficult but also the most memorable shot of my acting career. Thank you @kabirkhankk sir for giving me a memory to cherish for a lifetime."
Meanwhile, on the work front, Kartik Aaryan will be seen in the third installment of 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3', 'Aashiqui 3', and will begin shooting for Karan Johar's Dharma Productions epic war saga directed by Sandeep Modi.
