Ajay Devgn along with his De De Pyaar De co-stars Tabu and Rakul Preet Singh attended a promotional event of their film at a plush hotel in Juhu, Mumbai. Apart from the trio, Alok Nath, Javed Jaaferi and Jimmy Shergill in key roles. Helmed by Akiv Ali, the film revolves around 50-year-old Ashish (played by Ajay), a divorcee who falls for 26-year-old Ayesha, the character played by Rakul. In the film, Tabu plays Ajay's ex-wife. De De Pyaar De story sheds light on the backlash Ajay faces for falling in love with a girl the age of his kids, and the complexities that come with it. The poster of the film, which was unveiled on March 22, caught the attention of viewers because of Ajay's iconic leg split.

This rom-com brings back the hit pairing of Ajay Devgn with his close friend, Tabu. They were last seen together in Rohit Shetty's Golmaal Again. Whereas this project marks Rakul Preet Singh's first collaboration with Ajay and Tabu. The film is written and co-produced by Luv Ranjan and directed by Akiv Ali which marks his directorial debut.

Rakul Preet Singh in a recent interview said it was fun to learn to bartend while preparing for De De Pyaar De. Apart from losing 8 kgs to portray the character of Ayesha in the film, Rakul had to learn to bartend as well. "I attended the bartending workshop for about a week as it was needed to learn for the role, and it was a lot of fun. I learnt how to use the shakers, mix drinks, hold the mixers in the right way, serve in the right way, hold the glasses, flip glasses and all of that," Rakul said in a statement.

Rakul Preet Singh further added, "The experience was great. I would also cut my finger once in a while during the process. I wanted to be comfortable with the body language so that it doesn't look awkward while enacting it."

Tabu stars as the Ajay's character's former wife. When the film's trailer dropped, several critics pointed out that the movie seems to follow the archaic template of women competing for the love and attention of a man. However, Tabu said the film explores interpersonal relationships in a mature manner. "When I heard the story I thought it was extremely enjoyable. It's definitely not about two women vying for a man. It's not making fun or humouring everything. There is seriousness and maturity also and that's the beauty of the film."
