On the occasion of Sanjay Dutt's 60th birthday, the makers released the teaser of Prasthanam. The launch event was attended by Sanjay Dutt's wife Maanayata Dutt, and the cast of the film that includes - Manisha Koirala, Chahatt Khanna, Jackie Shroff among others. All pictures/Yogen Shah

The word Prasthanam means journey, and the story talks about the dark reality of politics, power, greed, love, human fallacies. Set in a contemporary political family, the story of Prasthanam is akin to that of the Mahabharata, which deals with the complex questions on morality, desire, right and wrong.

For the unversed, Prasthanam is the first mega-budget project from Sanjay S Dutt Productions. Talking about the same, producer Maanayata Dutt is spearheading Sanjay S Dutt Productions.

During the media interaction at the teaser launch of Prasthanam, producer Maanayata Dutt said: "We are proud to have Prasthanam as our first Hindi presentation under our banner."

Maanayata Dutt further added: "The film is an intense thrilling drama, whose essence will resonate with the Indian audience. The teaser unveiled today is our gift to Sanju's fans and thank them for their tremendous love and support through his journey."

Not only this, in an exclusive chat with mid-day, Sanjay Dutt shared how elated he is about his upcoming projects: "I have Prasthanam, Panipat, Sadak 2 and Shamshera lined up, and all my characters are different from one another."

The actor further added: "One of the biggest decisions that I have taken is that I want to play my age on screen. Our roles should be scripted with the actors in mind like they are in Hollywood. Actors like Denzel Washington, Al Pacino, Robert de Niro are playing tough roles, but at the same time, they are staying true to their age."

As he is reuniting with Manisha Koirala and Jackie Shroff after a very long time, Sanjay Dutt further added: "I had a great time collaborating with Jackie; I have shared a great rapport with him for so many years. Jackie, Anil [Kapoor], Salman [Khan] and Ajay [Devgn] are my buddies. We would always cheer for each other's films."

On joining hands with Mahesh Bhatt for the second instalment of Sadak, Sanjay Dutt said: "For me, the biggest high was that Bhatt saab was returning to the direction [with the film]. He has the same intensity and fire that I witnessed while collaborating with him on Naam [1989]. He is a genius."

Sanjay Dutt released the teaser amongst his die-hard fans at a popular multiplex in Mumbai. They also had a cake-cutting ceremony.

Later in the evening, the family hosted an intimate get-together with close friends at Dutt's Pali Hill residence in Bandra, Mumbai. The party will be hosted by wife Maanayata.

Apart from Prasthanam teaser, The makers of KGF Chapter 2 treated Sanjay Dutt fans with a poster of the actor as Adheera from the film. The film is a sequel to Yash-starrer 2018 sleeper hit KGF Chapter 1.
