Veteran actress Vidya Sinha passed away on August 15 at the age of 71. She was admitted to Criticare Hospital on August 10, after she complained of breathlessness. She was last seen in the ongoing television show Kullfi Kumarr Bajewala. Mohit Malik and other cast members came in to pay their respects at her last rites in Mumbai. All pictures/Yogen Shah

Since Vidya Sinha's condition was critical, she had been put on ventilator, but failed to recover and passed away around 1 pm on August 15. She was diagnosed with lung and heart disorders.

Vidya Sinha is best remembered for her roles in films such as Chhoti Si Baat (1976), Pati, Patni Aur Woh (1978), Rajnigandha (1974) among others. Her last notable role on the big screen was in Salman Khan-starrer Bodyguard (2011).

Vidya Sinha was seen in shows such as Ekta Kapoor's Kaavyanjali, Qubool Hai, Chandra Nandini, besides Kulfi Kumarr Bajewala. In between, Sinha had been missing from the show on account of her illness but bounced back a few weeks ago until her demise on August 15.

Vidya Sinha comfortably straddled both commercial and alternate cinema. She was noted for her sombre roles as well as light and romantic films with many top actors of the era. Among her other notable films were Hawas (1974), Chhoti Si Baat (1975), Mera Jeevana (1976), the crime-thriller Inkaar, Kitaab (both 1977), Pati, Patni Aur Woh and Basu Chatterjee's Safed Jhooth (both 1978), a horror flick Saboot (1980), Love Story and as a gangster in Josh (both 1981).

Born in Mumbai on November 15, 1947, to film producer Rana Pratap Singh, she started her professional career as a model and even won the Miss Bombay contest, catching the eye of renowned filmmaker Basu Chatterjee, making her mark in the industry though she entered it post-marriage.

Ayub Khan also came in to pay his respects to Vidya Sinha at her last rites in Mumbai.

Arun Bakshi, who is known for his roles in Diljale (1996), Gopi Kishan (1994), Saajan Chale Sasural (1996), also came in to offer his condolences to Vidya Sinha's family at her last rites in Mumbai.

Comedian Sunil Pal came in to pay his respects to Vidya Sinha at her last rites in Mumbai.
