Shahane, who is renowned as one of the impactful actors in Marathi and Hindi cinema, became an overnight star after appearing in Sooraj Barjatya's superhit romantic drama, ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun'

The versatile actor, while having a candid chat with Mid-Day Digital, revealed how she feels about being a part of internet culture. "I fear the falling of the rupee because it's always shown with me falling down the staircase," reveals Shahane as she jokes on being a part of viral memes. While she dies early in the movie, her character still lives on in the form of memes and GIFs

The Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit-starrer 1994 blockbuster drama which marked Shahane's stellar Bollywood debut is to date celebrated as one of the classic movies of the 90s

The actor spoke about how Sooraj Barjatya's father had warned her that she would be typecast as second lead after 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun'. Throwing light on the same, Shahane says, "Raj babuji, Sooraj ji's father had told me before accepting the role. I was a newcomer and he didn't need to say this but he explained 'Once you do this, if you have any ambitions to become a heroine you are not going to get those offers because you will be typecast as someone's sister or wife. Basically the second lead! You will not get the lead.' I was fine with that because I didn't come up with any such aims, I wanted to learn on the job and enjoy myself. I was so amazed that he was kind enough to guide me."

The actor revealed that Raj Kumar Barjatya's warning proved true, and she started getting similar roles post 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun'
