Kunal Kapoor and Naina Bachchan's fairytale romance will melt your heart

Kunal Kapoor and Naina Bachchan have a love story worth awwing over! The duo met almost seven years ago, and ever since, their love has only grown. Though Naina and Kunal are secretive about their personal life, we are here to share their adorable story. (All photos/mid-day archives)

If you are unaware of how Naina is connected to the Bachchan family, Kunal Kapoor's wife is Abhishek Bachchan's cousin and Ajitabh Bachchan's youngest daughter. Naina started her career as an investment banker, but she soon ventured into acting in plays. She met Kunal at a theatre workshop and the rest, as they say, is history. The couple knew each other through mutual friends, and for them, it was love at first sight.

The Rang De Basanti actor got engaged to his ladylove Naina Bachchan in 2014 and tied the knot on February 9, 2015, in Seychelles away from all the media glare and the glamour world.

While Kunal Kapoor was shooting for the film, Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana, it was reported that the Bachchan scion would visit the sets to meet her beau. In an interview with IANS before they made it official, Kunal disclosed about his personal life. The actor said, 'My relationship is really in a very happy phase at the moment. I am a very private person and don't like to discuss my life. I will announce my marriage as and when I decide to get hitched. But it is not happening in the near future.'

After Kunal Kapoor and Naina Bachchan made it official, Amitabh Bachchan wrote on his official blog, 'Weddings are a union of two souls to make them one...but weddings to me are the coming together of two families into one...this union is greater and more admirable than the marriage itself...this is the association that makes the togetherness feel pure and united.'

The couple is rarely seen at Bollywood soirees and parties. Naina Bachchan's first impression about Kunal Kapoor was that of being a tall, dark and handsome guy and Kunal found her extremely pretty. Not only this, but it is also said that Naina even shifted base from Delhi to Mumbai, to be close to her then-boyfriend, Kunal Kapoor.

Kunal and Naina even attended a theatre workshop together. Their love for art keeps them going through their life. Kunal Kapoor and Naina Bachchan claim to have the same tastes in life and bonded well with each other and fell in love. Kunal Kapoor and Naina Bachchan have even done a photoshoot for a fashion magazine. If this is not cute, then what is?

In an interview with mid-day, Kunal Kapoor said about his wife Naina, 'I don't think she is an introvert. She can converse with anybody, and that happens because she is interested in people. She has the ability to look at a person and read the situation well. I am very interested in people too. We laugh that when we go for dinner, I'm the snoop, and I want to know 'who is talking what, who is having a fight, who is the leader of the pack' - that's important to me as an actor.'

As the couple is often seen playing hide-and-seek with the cameras, Naina said: "It's each to their own, and what they are comfortable with. I don't pass judgement if people want to take pictures of their food. Maybe I could have a lot more media attention. I choose not to have it. Maybe that's weird for people. We are in an age of celebrity, and that's an anomaly. Recently, you guys took a picture of me standing behind Kunal and said "camera shy". I don't think I was camera shy. I was just stunned when two people jumped out of nowhere and started taking pictures."

Talking about their marriage, Naina said, 'You are not a half, but a whole, and you come together as two wholes. Kunal wanted to be with someone like that, or he wouldn't have chosen me. He didn't want to merge with someone. We don't need the other to complete ourselves.'

When mid-day asked Kunal about the marriage, Kunal said: 'People think that relationships mean two people doing two things together, but it's also about two people growing separately. Both people doing what they want, and being happy for each other, and then there is so much more to share.'

Naina further added, 'When he calls me from a film set and says I am loving what I am doing, I don't feel the need to run there, and be a part of it just because he is loving it. If I have an amazing yoga class or do something cool at work, he doesn't become a part of it. We are not codependent.'

All in love with Naina, Kunal couldn't stop being mushy about his relationship, the actor also said: 'Why should it be about the other person all the time? My friend (actor) Atul Kulkarni told me that marriage should be like a Venn diagram -- two circles come together and the place of the intersection with another is the beautiful place you share. What usually ends up happening is that the two circles become one, and we get absorbed into the other.'

If not working, Kunal Kapoor and Naina Bachchan are often spotted taking breaks from their busy schedule. The duo takes small vacations, somewhere away from the hustle-bustle of the city.

On August 28, 2020, Kunal Kapoor shared this adorable picture with his wife Naina and wrote alongside, "I met this incredible woman ten years ago, today.. And with each passing year my love and respect for her grows [sic]"

On his birthday, we wish Kunal Kapoor all the happiness and good luck!
