'I am Kalam' is the story of the protagonist Chhotu and his struggles to pursue his dreams. Set in Rajasthan, the film is inspired by former Indian President, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. It was conceptualized after the Right to Education Act was enforced in India.

Sridevi left an impact as Shashi Godbole in 'English Vinglish,' a housewife who endures mistretment by her well-educated husband and daughter because of her inability to speak and understand English. The audience connected with her struggles and determination to change her situation. 

'Nil Battey Sannata' is the heartwarming story of Chanda played by Swara Bhasker, a high-school dropout, housemaid and single mother of a young girl. She enrolls herself in the same class as her daughter.

'Taare Zameen Par' is the story of Ishaan, whose parents send him to a boarding school due to his poor academic performance. A teacher Ram Shankar Nikumbh played by Aamir Khan, suspects that he is dyslexic and the film goes on to tell the heartwarming story of how Ishaan flourishes under Nikumbh's guidance. The film won over the critics as well as the audience.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 2005 release 'Black' starring Rani Mukerji and Amitabh Bachchan, is the story of Michelle a deaf-and-blind woman, and her relationship with her teacher Debraj. Debraj played by Bachchan takes it upon himself to build Michelle into someone who can express and communicate.
