2 hits in 11 movies: A look at Akshay Kumar's box office performance post pandemic

Akshay Kumar has been part of 11 movies since the pandemic. Currently he is looking forward to the release of his 12th film 'Khel Khel Mein'. While the actor has not had the best of luck at the box office in recent times, we take a look at how his past 11 films have performed at the Indian box office

Bellbottom (August 19, 2021)

The Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta, and Huma Qureshi-starrer released in the theatres despite restrictions in theatre seating amid the pandemic. The film opened at Rs 2.75 crore and was released on OTT platform, a month after its theatrical release

Sooryavanshi (2021)

This Rohit Shetty directorial was the first proper release since the pandemic in the theatres. The film opened to Rs 26.29 cr and collected a total of Rs 120.66 cr

Bachchhan Paandey (2022)

The film starring Akshay Kumar and Kriti Sanon tanked at the box office. The film opened at Rs 13.25 cr and collected a total of Rs 49.98

Samrat Prithviraj (2022)

This historical drama also failed to impress at the box office collecting only Rs 68.05 cr lifetime

Raksha Bandhan (2022)

This was yet another flop at the box office collecting in single digit on opening day. The film that also starred Bhumi Pednekar collected a lifetime of Rs 44.39 cr

Ram Setu (2022)

While this film had a good opening with Rs 15 cr, it managed to be an average affair collecting Rs 71.87 cr lifetime

 

Selfiee (2023): 

A remake of a Malayalam film, Selfiee was a disaster at the box office. The film earned Rs 2.55 cr on opening day and ended with a lifetime of Rs 16.85 cr

OMG 2 (2023):

Keeping up with his Independence Day release tradition, Akshay brought OMG 2 last year where he played the messenger of God. With limited promotions, the film thrived on positive word of mouth. Despite a clash with 'Gadar 2', the film proved to be a hit. The film earned over Rs 10 cr on opening day and a lifetime of Rs 150 cr

Mission Raniganj (2023): 

This film based on a real life story was also a flop at the box office. It collected Rs 2.8 cr on opening day and ended with a lifetime of Rs 33.74 cr

Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (2024):

The big-budget much-hyped film earned Rs 16 cr on opening day. But with negative reviews, the film saw a downfall at the BO earning a lifetime of just around Rs 60 cr

Sarfira (2024): 

With little to no buzz around the film and the constant delay in release, the film managed to earn only Rs 2.5 cr on opening. The film was a disaster at the box office earning a lifetime of around Rs 22 cr
