The Singing Chipmunks and chipettes at the heart of this live-action animation feature are quite adorable but their many antics leave you more than a little off color. While they look adorable and huggable, it's not all entertaining and exciting on the adventure front. They are being hunted down by a sky marshall who caught them sneaking in on a plane under his watch .

Add to that an irreverent teenager who plays pranks on them and happens to be the darling son of their dad's love interest, Samantha. The Chipmunks think Dave is about to propose to Sam and expecting to be kicked out of his life, decide to lose the ring .

It's a silly story and the drama is terribly stretched and worn to bits. There's no comedic relief to be had and the musical experience which starts off as peppy ends up becoming tedious and boring. The chipmunks voices are done with digital flair but the attachment is never there. In fact the end comes as a big relief. And to think that it only took around an hour and forty minutes to dispel off any hope for entertainment speaks sourly of the bad crafting involved here.
