93-year-old French actor Louis Jourdan, who is best known for his roles in the 1958 musical 'Gigi' and 1983 James Bond film 'Octopussy', has died
Los Angeles: French actor Louis Jourdan, who is best known for his roles in the 1958 musical "Gigi" and 1983 James Bond film "Octopussy", has died. He was 93.
According to his friend and biographer Olivier Minne, Jourdan passed away at his home in Beverly Hills Saturday, reports variety.com.
"He was the last French figure of the Hollywood golden age. And he worked with so many of the greatest actors and directors," said Minne, who is working on a documentary and a book about Jourdan.
Jourdan was born in Marseille, France on June 19, 1921.
Besides 'Gigi' and 'Octopussy', Jourdan's other works include 'The Paradine Case', 'Letter from an Unknown Woman', 'The Best of Everything' and 'The V.I.P.s'.
Amongst his TV appearances were 'Count Dracula', 'The First Olympics: Athens 1896' and 'Beverly Hills Madam'.
In 2010, the actor was awarded the Legion d'Honneur in Los Angeles. Friends including Sidney Poitier and Kirk Douglas were there to congratulate him.
Jourdan married Berthe Frederique in 1946. She died in 2014. Their only child son Louis Henry Jourdan died in 1981 from a drug overdose.
