In the poll conducted by Booktrust where 24000 readers of all ages cast their votes, the first novel of the wizard series left behind âThe Hunger Games and Roald Dahl's âBFG', the BBC reported.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Winnie-the-Pooh concluded the top five, while âThe Fellowship of the Ring' by JRR Tolkien secured the 7th position.
Dr Seuss's âThe Cat in the Hat', Charlotte's Web by EB White and CS Lewis's âThe Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe' came in the top 10 of the list.
Booktrust experts began with a list of 500 titles, which were skimmed down to 100, while being grouped into age categories.
âThe Philosopher's Stone' won in the 9-12 age group, and âThe Hungry Caterpillar' was named as the ultimate book for children up to the age of five.u00a0
