The film released on Friday. 'The Martian' is based on Andy Weir's eponymous 2011 novel and adapted for the screen by Drew Goddard. It's a science fiction entertainer
Featuring actor Matt Damon as a stranded astronaut attempting to survive alone on Mars, the film released in 3,826 locations, and was made on a budget of USD 109 million.
It also features actors Jessica Chastain, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Jeff Daniels.
'Hotel Transylvania 2,' which topped the box office last weekend with USD 48.5 million, is expected to incur USD 28 million for Sony Pictures.
