Troubled actor Charlie Sheen has said that he used steroids to enhance his performance in 1989 baseball film Major League

Troubled actor Charlie Sheen has said that he used steroids to "enhance" his performance in 1989 baseball film Major League.

The 45-year-old former Two and a Half Men star is no stranger to drugs but has admitted for the first time to using them for his film role as Ricky Wild Thing Vaughn in the film.

"Let's just say that I was enhancing my performance a little bit. It was the only time I ever did steroids. I did them for like six or eight weeks. My fastball went from 79 to like 85 (miles per hour)," Sheen said.

While his performance on the field improved, the trademark lightning bolt haircut he had to adopt for the film proved more problematic. "I didn't like the haircut because it generated so many comments in bars.

I've got enough of that already," said Sheen, who was 22 at the time of filming.

Sheen was fired from Two and a Half Men in March after a weeks-long media circus that had the actor attacking everything from Alcoholics Anonymous to Lorre.
