The 39-year-old star sat down for a recent interview with The New York Times' magazine and spoke about classic movies, mentors and expert advice she received in her career.
Barrymore, who is expecting her second child with husband Will Kopelman - the couple welcomed daughter Olive in 2012 - credited her E.T. director Steven Spielberg as being her mentor.
"Steven told me, 'Don't act your characters. Be your characters'," she said before further revealing, "I don't think I'm a good actor. Yes."
After a gap of more than two years, Drew will be next seen in the blind date comedy Blended, opposite good friend Adam Sandler.
