The first film in the franchise grossed USD 683.8 million worldwide. Lawrence's new pay deal is a combination of salary, bonuses and escalators and she is slated to earn more if the sequel performs well at the box office.

The young star was paid just USD 500,000 for the first film, plus bonuses depending on box-office performance. She has a four movie deal with studio Lionsgate for the movie adaptation of Suzanne Collins best-selling trilogy but producers decided to renegotiate her contract after the film became an international sensation.

Lawrence's co-stars Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth also are said to have renegotiated their contracts. Director Francis Lawrence is replacing Gary Ross for the sequel. Lionsgate plans to release the film on November 22, 2013.u00a0
