Forced to turn down roles "many times" due to gender pay gap, Keira Knightley feels it is "sh't" that male actors are paid way more than their female counterparts.
She said she will not consider taking on a project if she finds out her salary is lower than that of men in the cast. "The Hollywood pay gap is ridiculous and we have to do something about it. It's sh't," Keira said in an interview to a magazine.
The Begin Again star's comments came close on the heels of Mila Kunis' write-up on gender discrimination that she has experienced in Hollywood. "There have been moments when I have been insulted, sidelined, paid less, creatively ignored, and otherwise diminished based on my gender.
And always, I tried to give people the benefit of the doubt... [But now] I'm done compromising; even more so, I'm done with being compromised," Mila had written.
The issue of gender pay gap in Hollywood has been a talking point ever since hacked Sony e-mails revealed Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams had been paid less than their male co-stars in American Hustle.
