At the 86th Academy Awards held at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, Los Angeles, a bevy of stars bowled us over with their style statement. Vidya Prabhu takes a look at those who wowed us
Jennifer Lawrence, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie-Pitt and Cate Blanchett
Women who sizzled on the red carpet
Jennifer Lawrence: She has impressed us time and again with her sartorial choices and this blood orange Dior number only reiterates her red carpet supremacy.
Lupita Nyong'o: Not only did she win in the Best Supporting Actress category, but she also won over fashion lovers with a baby blue, silk-chiffon gown that was custom-made for her by Prada.
Charlize Theron: A black Dior gown that showed off her décolletage, minimal makeup, sleek hair and a diamond necklace. It seems that Theron can do no wrong on the red carpet.
Cate Blanchett: The two-time Academy Award winner was togged out in a Giorgio Armani custom-made nude gown. Featuring a long, flared tulle skirt with embroidered sequins and light gold Swarovski crystal baguettes, this was one exquisite outfit.
Amy Adams: The American Hustle actress may have played it safe with a navy blue strapless gown by Gucci, but she looked resplendent in it and we aren't complaining.
Kate Hudson: Clad in an Atelier Versace gown that has an Eighties whiff about it, she looked stunning. Pics/ AFP
Men we drooled over
Kevin Spacey: For a 54-year-old, Spacey sure knows to how to makes heads turn. The American Beauty star wore a classic cut Burberry suit and what made it interesting was its unconventional hue.
Jared Leto: Opting for a white coat, black pants and red bowtie ensemble by Yves Saint Laurent, the Dallas Buyers Club actor looked dapper, we must say. The long tresses only added to his charm.
The best-dressed couples
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie-Pitt: Hollywood's favourite couple made for yet another stunning photograph. While Brad wore a Tom Ford tuxedo, Angelina chose an Elie Saab gown with strategically-placed sequins.
Matthew McCounaghey and Camila Alves: Matthew McCouaughey wore a Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo even as his Brazilian model-turned-designer wife looked lovely in an asymmetrical gown by Gabriela Cadena.
