Los Angeles: 'Mission Impossible 4' star Paula Patton will play the lead role in ABC's drug cartel drama 'Runner'.

Based on the Turkish series Son, the drama revolves around Lauren Marks (Patton). She gets involved in the world of cartels and illegal gun trade between the US and Mexico to search for the truth when her seemingly perfect life is torn apart.
Patton's character Lauren is an architect, a caring wife and mother living with her husband, Adam, and their son, Jackson, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Actresses like Christina Applegate, Katie Holmes, Mireille Enos and Jessica Biel were involved in discussion for the part.
