Katz filed court papers which called the article one of the most reprehensible examples of yellow journalism, the New York Post reported.
Judd Burstein, Katz's lawyer has blasted the report as a stomach-turning, egregious use of a tragedy to make a quick buck.
National Enquirer had claimed in the article that Katz has told them that he and Hoffman were homosexual lovers and he saw Hoffman smoke freebase cocaine shortly before his body was discovered.
