In Titanic, Leonardo DiCaprio may have promised to take Kate Winslet to the stars, but a space cadet has shelled out a million dollars to bid for travelling with the star into outer space
New York: A space cadet has shelled out $1 million to bid for travelling with Leonardo DiCaprio on a Virgin Galactic trip to the moon. The Titanic star had put up the seat for auction in Cannes for non-profit group, amFAR, which supports AIDS research.

The 39-year-old actor offered the adventure trip last year also for auction in which Russian real estate mogul Vasily Klyukin paid 1.5 million dollars to explore the space with the actor. However, it is still unclear when this commercial flight to space will take off because Virgin Galactic's private reusable space plane is still under testing.
Actress Sharon Stone, chair of amFAR, served as this year's auctioneer at the annual event held at hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc. The fundraiser event raised $35 million. The actress predicted that by 2020, a vaccine would exist for HIV/AIDS.
"Today is the day we can say we have a cure for pediatric AIDS. There were many times, when we came here over the years where we're failing. Now we are in the beginning of the end of AIDS," Stone told the A-list audience.
