There are many celebrities who are heartthrobs of millions but struggle to forge a strong bond with their children
Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman
A few days ago, it was revealed that Tom Cruise did not attend daughter Isabella's wedding to IT consultant Max Parker. Reason? He wasn't invited. While many reports suggest that he didn't attend the nuptials because Max doesn't practice Scientology, others say that none of the parents from either side made it to the guest list.

However, a few rumours also hint towards an estranged relationship. All these years, Cruise maintained that he keeps in touch with his children Isabella and Connor.

However, his absence from his daughter's wedding has got tongues wagging about the status of their relationship. And theirs is not the first. Living under constant media glare is no easy task. It often leads to the family lives of the celebrities taking a hit as many find it difficult to forge a normal bond with their offspring.
We tell you about a few:
Jon Voight and Angelina Jolie
Jolie's father, Jon Voight - an award-winning actor - left her mom and her when she was less than a year old. Ever since, the two have had a strained relationship. However, the nail in the coffin was when in 2002, Voight on a television programme, went on to say that his daughter is suffering from "serious mental problems" and needs medical treatment.
Post that, Jolie, her brother and mother cut all ties with the actor. It wasn't until Jolie's mother was fighting for her life with ovarian cancer that they began to talk again. In 2010, Jolie and her father publicly reconciled. However, Jolie did not invite her father for her wedding to Brad Pitt. In fact, he apparently didn't even know about it. When he got to know of the wedding from the media, he simply said, "That's nice".
50 Cent and Marquise
The rapper has a lot going on in life - a successful career, loads of money and millions of women fans. But the one thing that he doesn't have is a strong bond with his eldest son Marquise Jackson. Speaking about the matter he elaborated, "I haven't spoken to him.
I don't speak to him. With him that situation is so complex. I think over time she [Marquise's mother] has instilled her entitlement." The rapper's troubled relationship with his son came to the forefront in 2013 when he sent a text message to his son saying, "Disrespectful little motherf'''''. Tell your mother she won. She has you and I'll make another. I will have nothing to do with you. Don't text me ever again." Reportedly, the Animal Ambition creator got mad when he went to visit Marquise but couldn' t get in the house. When quizzed about whether he would ever patch up with his son, he confessed that he wasn't sure.
Courtney Love and Frances Bean Cobain
The mother-daughter duo has had their share of ups and downs over the years. Post Kurt Cobain's suicide in 1994, Love battled addiction for some time and due to years of erratic behaviour, lost Frances's custody to Kurt's mother, Wendy O'Connor, and his sister, Kimberly Dawn Cobain in 2009. In 2012, Love accused Dave Grohl, Nirvana's drummer, of trying to seduce a then 19-year-old Frances. Frances denied the accusation and suggested that Twitter ban her mother saying, "While I'm generally silent on the affairs of my biological mother, her recent tirade has taken a gross turn.
I have never been approached by Dave Grohl in more than a platonic way. I'm in a monogamous relationship and very happy. Twitter should ban my mother." Love later tweeted: "Bean, sorry I believed the gossip. Mommy loves you." Last year, Love went on record to say that her relationship with her daughter was improving and this year in January the two were seen sharing a peaceful moment before the screening of Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck, the first fully-authorised documentary on Cobain. However, reports suggest that it will take some time before the two to reconcile and move beyond their differences.
Michael and Lindsay Lohan
The Lohan family drama is nothing short of a soap opera. At any point of time the two may or may not be talking to each other. Last year, during the second episode of the docu series Lindsay, the actress had snapped at her father and said, "I do not want to talk about your two other to random f'''ing kids."
Talking about this conversation later, she had confessed, "My dad has this whole other life with all these other people that he's createdâ¦and I do not want to be a part of that. They are not part of my life and they never will be." Michael on the other hand, stressed on the fact that anyone going through a divorce should shield his or her children from the dispute. He said, "The kids are the ones that wind up sufferingâ¦especially Lindsayâ¦and that wonderful, gifted girl is an example of what can happen." Despite obvious tensions, Lindsay claims that her relationship with her father is improving, "At least we can talk about it nowâ¦that's good," she said.
Ryan O' Neal and Tatum O'Neal
Tatum, in her memoir titled, A Paper Life, gives an account of how her father Ryan O'Neal rescued her brother, Griffin and her from their alcoholic mother, only to leave the house when she was 15. Reportedly, Ryan fell in love with actress Farrah Fawcett and moved out. In the following years, Tatum's gradual descent into drugs and addiction changed her life for the worst, and a bitter divorce from husband John McEnroe and losing custody of her three kids followed.
While Tatum was in the process of picking herself again, she thought of reconciling with her father. However, at the funeral of Fawcett, he refused to recognise her. In 2011, eager to repair their relationship, the father-daughter duo appeared in a docu series. However, according to Ryan, it distanced them further. In the same year Tatum released a memoir, Found: A Daughter's Journey Home, which chronicles her family, childhood, her struggles with substance abuse, and her relationship with her father.
